Welcome to Canon Ball, an AO3 exchange focused on fic and art about characters you create yourself. These can be about unlikely friends or enemies, or romance, or smut, or anything else you desire with no restrictions other than to pass the canon ball. :)

Nominations
Here is the tag set.
Nominations belong in one of the pre-existing "fandom" categories:
- F/F(/F+) Ships
- M/M(/M+) Ships
- Mixed Gender Ships
- Miscellaneous Ships
- Gen (Stuff without Ships)
- Mixed Gen and Ship
Nominations should be gender disambiguated at the end of the tag. Nonhumans count as either their gender/sex or as Everything Else, up to you.
Romantic or sexual relationships should be in an A/B format. If it is meant to be neither romantic nor sexual, nominate it as A & B.
For example, if you wished to nominate Catgirl/Dragon/Sexbot as a lesbian threesome, the appropriate tag would be Catgirl/Dragon/Sexbot (F/F/F) in the F/F(/F+) Ships fandom.
However, if you wished for a Catgirl, a male Dragon, and an ambiguous Sexbot, the tag would be Catgirl/Dragon/Sexbot (F/M/any) in Mixed Gender Ships.
You could alternatively nominate Catperson/Dragon/Sexbot in Miscellaneous Ships.
If the relationship is neither romantic nor sexual, nominate it in the Gen (Stuff without Ships) category in an A&B style, disambiguated by gender. A friendship between a catgirl and an ambiguous dragon would be Catgirl & Dragon (F & any).
If the relationship involves both a romantic/sexual part and a friendship part, nominate it under Mixed Gen and Ship. For example, a Dragon, the Dragon Rider who's fucking the dragon, and their Catboy Friend would be Dragon/Dragonrider & Their Catboy Friend. (any/any & M)
There are no restrictions on what sorts of characters or relationships you can nominate.
Requests and offers
Matching is OR based. So long as one tag in each category appears in both your request and the other person's offer, you can be matched to that person.
You may request/offer between 2-40 relationships for each request, or request or offer Any. Note that Any means anything in the tagset. You may not request Any and then DNW things involved in relationship tags.
In order to request more than 20 relationships tags, please use the Optional Tags field!
In the ratings field, Explicit means you are willing to write/draw/receive erotica, and General means everything else. Select both if you're fine either way. You do not have to stay within a G rating for a General fic.
Choosing between Art or Fic goes in the Character slot.
You must pick at least one freeform. As smut/not-smut is determined earlier in the sign-up, this is where you can specify whether you prefer your gift as hurt/comfort, or fluffy, or angsty, or only in a science fiction setting. Note that you are only matched on one freeform tag, so prioritise between absolutely getting the right setting or the right emotional arc.
Assignments
Your fic must be at least 1000 words, or your art a clean sketch on nice paper (if appropriate) and at least 500x500 pixels.
Works must avoid any of the recipient's Do Not Wants that were included in their sign-up.
No extensions will be given. If you do not think you will complete your assignment, please hit the Default button on AO3.
Please do not delete your gifts after the exchange. If you must remove your username from it, orphan it instead. You may, of course, repost your writing or art elsewhere.
Pinch hits will be posted to the community.
